Amman - The Raghadan flagpole (127m tall) is the second tallest flagpole in the world. It was built in 2003 and flies the Jordanian flag near the Raghadan royal palace. The tallest (unsupported) flagpole is in Aqaba.
Amman - The Citadel (Jebel al-Qala'a) - The Citadel sits on the highest hill in Amman (Jebel al-Qala'a, about 850m amsl) and is the site of ancient Rabbath-Ammon. Artifacts dating from the Bronze age show that the hill has been a fortress for thousands of years. This photo shows the remains of the Temple of Hercules built during the reign of Marcus Aurelius (AD 161-80).
