Wurzburg - Residenz, palace of the Wurzburg prince-bishops, constructed between 1720 and 1744. The palace was destroyed in an air raid during WW2 (on March 16th 1945), and was reconstructed between 1945 and 1987. No photos allowed inside :-(
Wurzburg - Fortress Marienberg (German: Festung Marienberg) is the symbol of Würzburg and served as a home of the prince-bishops for nearly five centuries. It has been a fort since ancient times. After Gustavus Adolphus of Sweden conquered the area in 1631, the castle was reconstructed in the Baroque style. Today, it is a park and museum.
