Luxor Temple - Part of the temple was converted into a church by the Romans in the 3rd or 4th century AD. It's pharaonic stone carvings were plastered over and covered with Christian paintings. This photo shows a section of the paintings and the underlying carvings.
Luxor Temple - The Avenue of Sphinxes which once stretched about 2km from Luxor Temple to Karnack Temple. About 100m of the avenue is currently exposed, the remainder lies buried under buildings.
