Karnak - The Temple of Amun - The huge stone statue of a scarab beetle next to the Sacred Lake. The scarab beetle statue was dedicated by Amenhotp III to Kepri, god of the rising sun. The Egyptians believed that the sun was pushed by a scarab on its daily crossing of the sky, and it came to symbolise eternity. Legend says that if you walk around the scarab seven times, you will never again have love problems...
