Abu Simbel - The Great Temple of Ramses II - carved out of solid rock in the 13th century BC. The temple complex was moved in the 1960's to avoid being submerged under the waters of Lake Nasser. There are four large statues of Ramses II (one broke in an earthquake in 27DB), smaller statues of his wife, mother and some of his children around his legs. In the middle, above the doorway is a statue of Ra-Harakhty (the sun god).
